KRP Golf Classic
The KRP Golf Classic has been a fixture for women golfers from the Edmonton area since the late 1960's when it was conceived by two Alberta Hall of Fame Golfers – Mrs. Hazel Jamison (inducted 1980) and Mr. Babe McAvoy (inducted 2009). It started as the Alberta Ladies’ Cal-Bev Challenge Cup and has had a number of sponsors as detailed in the following page of prior year winners. Since its inception it has had many prominent Alberta golfers as participants, including: Hall of Famers: Hazel Jamison and Betty Stanhope-Cole to former tour player Heather Lee and the first ever female president (2011) of Golf Canada, Karen Rackel.
Each year a different private club is the host of the finals and this year it is at the Glendale Golf and Country Club. Our participating courses also include Belvedere Golf and Country Club, Highlands Golf Club, Derrick Golf and Winter Club, Royal Mayfair Golf & Country , Windermere Golf and Country Club, Edmonton Petroleum Golf and Country Club, Edmonton Country Club, and Blackhawk Golf Club. The competition is structured as four ball match play with the lowest 64 handicap teams qualifying for the tournament. Matches begin in May and are played throughout the summer with finals each year in September.
This year's final will be hosted by Highlands Golf Club on September 8th 2019.
